2016 Afro-Brazilian Dance


Samba is a Brazilian dance and musical genre originating in Bahia, Brazil, and with its roots Africa via the West African slave trade and African religious traditions. It is recognized around the world as a symbol of Brazil and the Brazilian Carnival. Considered one of the most popular Brazilian cultural expressions, samba has become an icon of Brazilian national identity.

The ladies of Axe Capoeira deliver there own energetic Afro-Brazilian Dance performances, while wearing an array of Brazilian costumes that span the various regions of Brazil. The performers of Axe Folclorico will be demonstrating and performing various styles of Afro Brazilian Dance including samba, maculele, and coco de roda!
