Middle of the week and things are already exciting! Thanks to everyone who have inquired about the festival, sent us tons of great messages, videos and photos! Very cool of you! We've been sharing our own content for this year, but we haven't really mentioned our new home, the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts! We have taken the festival from a night time event, to a day time event, and opened it to all ages, making it a family-friendly day of Brazilian Culture. The SCPA is one of Arizona's most premiere Art institutions in the valley drawing over 200K visitors a year! We chose the SCPA because we share the same vision for Performance Art, Music, Culture and Community! Take a look! The festival will take place both indoor and outdoors!
Happy Tuesday! Up and ready to get the day started! We hope you've enjoyed and had a chance to check out all the latest posts on activities for Brazilian Day, along with some of the Bands performing. Today we'll keep on with the music with our man, and host, DjSeduce! Founder of the event, and owner of Afro:Baile Records, DJ Seduce will be Djing along side some of his favorite bands, and hosting the events festivities! An Arizona native, and profound lover of Brazilian music and culture, DJ Seduce brings an eclectic treat to the stage.
MONICA DA SILVA :
Mônica da Silva very neatly brings together her Brazilian and American sides, making softly sensual indie pop that casts its tendrils around Rio MPB (Brazilian popular music). “Da Silva is doing something unique with Brazilian music, following her own Muse, and sounding spectacular ”, says Chris Nickson (The NPR Curious Listener’s Guide To World Music). Inspired by her experiences growing up between the Midwest, USA and Belém, Brazil, a city on the Amazon River, Mônica’s new album Brasilissima has touches of “samba and bossa, and even a small nod toward the very percussive axé music, but, along with partner Chad Alger, who shares playing, production and compositional credits, she’s created a hybrid that’s her own, and ridiculously addictive.” Da Silva’s single Aí Então was “selected from tens of thousands of songs” by the pioneering label Putumayo World Music to be featured on their new compilation. Created to introduce new global music to broad audiences, Brazilian Beat chronicles the vibrant indie scene in Brazil and around the world. Miami’s Acontece Magazine, recently called Mônica’s music the “future of Bossa Nova with the face of youth today”. www.MonicaDaSilva.com |
