We are happy to announce a very special guest! 113 Year old Brazilian acclaimed Author, Bernando LaPallo will be joining us at Brazilian Day this year! The local Brazilian resident who turns 114 year's old this August (17th), will be joining the Brazilian festivities with the official launch of his new Book release titled "Beyond 100 - How to Live Well Into Your Second Century". The new "Beyond 100" book will be Bernando's 3rd book, and 1st written in Portuguese. The acclaimed author, health guru and life coach, will be joining us around 1pm to promote his new book, while celebrating life, longevity and Independence day the Brazilian Way! Come meet Bernando in person and pick up a copy of his new book.
About Bernando LaPallo
Bernando was born in Victoria, Brazil on August 17, 1901 to Mattie Carr and Bernando LaPallo Sr. He moved to the United States and was raised by his father who was a doctor in Philadelphia. His first interest was in food and he went on to study the culinary arts at La Sorbonne in Paris, France graduating in 1928. After years of working as a chef on steam liners and resorts he retired in that profession to pursue an interest in the healing arts. He studied massage at The Swedish Institute in New York City. Later Bernando went on to study and become licensed as a reflexologist and podiatrist at NYU. He completed that course of study at the age of 73. He had a successful private massage practice in New York City for more than 20 years treating people from all walks of life. He currently resides in Arizona where he gives talks on the secrets of his youthful vitality and health. He is the author of two books: "Age Less Live More - Achieving Health and Vitality at 107 Years and Beyond" and his new book, "Beyond 100 - How to Live Well Into Your Second Century"

We are excited to announce another Special Guest, and Host for this year's annual Brazilian Day Festival in Scottsdale, Arizona! Meet Neise Cordeiro! The talented young hostess is a aspiring Actress, dancer, model, singer, TV personality, beauty queen, public figure, former Mrs. Nevada Globe 2013 and Mrs. Brazil Globe 2014, as well as founder of Brazuka Productions in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. Originally from Porto Alegre, Brazil, Neise moved to Los Angeles, CA and began working in different fields in the entertainment industry, acquiring various roles, exposure and credits, before eventually settling in Las Vegas, Nevada. We invited Neise to joins our Brazilian Day Festival as our special guest, and will be our official correspondent throughout the day covering fun activities, live music elements and crowd coverage! We can't wait for you to meet her!
Neise's credits include tv shows, festivals, events, live shows, theater plays, and various movies. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Theater from the University of Las Vegas, Nevada, and currently is working on her second degree in Journalism and Media Studies. Her passion for dance, health and fitness moved her to acquire a Personal Fitness Trainer, Zumba and BARRE Teacher's Certifications. Neise also collaborates in different charities in her community, in special as a spokeswoman for the Women in Need International Foundation, a non-profit organization focused in help and educate women and children victims of domestic violence. She speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and works in each one of these markets.

The Annual Samba Queen Contest is an integral part of the Brazilian Day Arizona Festival. Each year nearly a dozen contestant’s sign up to dance, shake, and groove for a chance to take home the crown! The annual Samba Queen Contest was started in 2010 as a special feature at Brazilian Day, to highlight one of the many different traditions held in Brazil; more specifically, held during “Carnaval” time. The annual Samba Queen Contest is based on the premise of the “Carnaval Queen” seen each year riding high upon the floats in Brazil.
At Brazilian Day, the annual Samba Queen Contest is held at the end of day to close out the event’s day long festivities. The contest consist of Samba Dancing, Crowd Interaction, Performance and overall Brazilian Spirit. The winner is crowned Queen at the end of the contest, and is given an official crown to keep for 1 calendar year. The winner also receives a package of goods courtesy of Afro:Baile.
