The 6th Annual Brazilian Day Festival was pure fun, excitement, and culture all wrapped in to one! We had a great time presenting the festival, and had an even better time giving away 2 handcrafted Brazilian Watches by Amazuna.
Today, we're excited to introduce our friend, Kara Pryor, who won the very first Amazuna Watch at Brazilian Day. Kara and her family ( Husband Dr. Shep Pryor V, son's Shep VI and daughters Rylan & Fallyn ) attended the Brazilian Day for the 3 consecutive year! While enjoying the Brazilian breeze with her family, Kara entered our drawing and low and behold she won! How exciting is that! To top it off, Kara has an excellent backstory to Brazil and why she loves the culture.
Kara and her Husband went to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil for their Honeymoon. They attended Carnaval, Christ the Redeemer & saw the beautiful stairs made by the late great "Jorge Selaron", - they even had an opportunity to meet him and take a picture with him. Kara also has two younger brothers who are Brazilian. Kara say's "Brazil is one of the most amazing places I have ever been to. I fell in love with Rio! The people, food, music & beautiful sites". She also says "It's so nice we get a little piece of Brazil in Arizona".
What a wonderful person to not only Win the first Amazuna Watch, but also a beautiful family who loves the culture, community and Brazilian Day! Thank You for spending your Brazilian Day with us Pryor Family. We hope to see you again next year! (photos of Kara and her Family and the Amazuna Watch she won).

Each Year at Brazilian Day Festival we conclude our annual event by having our Samba Queen Contest. The contest is anyone local who feels they can shake it, move it, and dance the Samba! This year we had 2 contestants who really brought the spirit of Brazil to the stage!! One contestant from Angola and one from Brazil. They laughed, they loved, they danced and the crowd cheered them on! But! at the end of the day, we could only Crown one winner!!
This year's winner is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil! She just moved to Arizona and she took home the crown! Our new friend and 2015 Samba Queen, Miss Mirian Silva!
